Two Thursday 7 to Saturday 9 August 2008 We are delighted to announce the details of Forest Players’ next great play – the award-winning TWO, written by the incomparable Jim Cartwright. Set in a pub, TWO is funny, painful, beautiful: a study of life, love, grief and redemption. Michael Billington, writing for The Guardian, put it best when he described TWO as a sharp, salty, quickfire evocation of the surface gaiety and underlying melancholia of English pub life. The breathtaking skill with which Cartwright unfolds the story of the owners of the pub, the interwoven histories and dramas, all the while reflecting us to ourselves and then in the end…. but that would be telling. Come and see it. Director Corin Stuart, familiar to many as Dominic (Amy’s View), Dick Tassell (Happiest Days) and Lou Tanner (The Gingerbread Lady) has drawn together an excellent and strong cast in his last Forest Players’ production before taking up his place at the Drama Studio in London. He has roped in a young Lighting Designer from LAMDA and a professional theatre producer, both of whom have happily donated their services to the Forest Players. Seasoned Forest Players performers familiar to our audience include Nick Watson as the Landlord; Caroline Wilkinson as the Landlady; John Freeman; Emilie Hall; Martin Stuart, and Rose Smith. Experienced newcomers to our stage include Deborah Ellis, who has joined us from Chequer Mead; Midge Adams, Peter Adams, and Oliver Lewis-Barclay, while 10 year old Ryan Blay from Imberhorne School is making his Forest Players debut, as is Tim Walden. The play will be performed from Thursday 7th to Saturday 9th August at the Parish Halls, De La Warr Road, East Grinstead. Performances start at 8:15 pm. with the doors and bar open from 7:30 pm. Tickets are £6 each and all seating is unreserved. You can book your tickets with our Advanced Credit Card Booking Service Tel: 07894 660 281 or from Bullfrog Music Tel: 01342 315 602. The play does contain some strong language and highly emotive scenes. Since our recent amalgamation we wanted to maintain our previous performing links with East Grinstead and we hope that this will be become an annual event in addition to our twice-yearly productions in Forest Row. So please do come and support our new venture. |
