Snake in the Grass
Tuesday 21 to Saturday 25 April 2009 "I've always wanted to do a thriller that starts in sunlight in a garden, and slowly the darkness comes in as the sun sets. But there's not a clap of thunder or any lightning in this play as it's more a study of women, and essentially the sisters..." - Alan Ayckbourn, Yorkshire Evening Press, 31 May 2002 As Alan Ayckbourn is celebrating his 70th Birthday in April, we thought it fitting that we stage a recent play penned by Britain’s most prolific and successful modern playwright. It is unusual in that it is a thriller by this master of middle-class comedy. In fact it is the second thriller he has written but it does, as expected, include moments of comedy. The cast of Sally Hannam, Louise van Manen and Caroline Wilkinson are now rehearsing under the experienced eye of our director Judy Buchanan. The production dates are Tuesday 21st to Saturday 25th April at Freshfield Hall, Forest Row. The play starts at 7.45 pm. with the doors and bar opening from 7.15 pm. The tickets are £7.50 each but since there isn’t a charity night for this play we are making the Tuesday night a preview performance with all tickets at only £5 each. As usual we are offering a Senior Citizen Concession on Wednesday night only for £5 each and Student Concession up to 18 of £5 each from Wednesday to Saturday. Tickets will be on sale from 1st April from our Box Offices - Foresta Travel, Forest Row Tel: 01342 822607 and Bullfrog Music, East Grinstead Tel: 01342 315602. Do come along for an evening of mystery and shocks! – Mike Williams |
