"On the one level it can be taken as piece of 'spook theatre'. But underneath it's actually a story about abuse in childhood. It's actually quite a dark theme. It's what makes a victim, and how that can have incredible repercussions... but I didn't want to write a play about abuse, full stop. That would have put off the very audience that I hoped would see it. I'm always looking for other levels to add, and it seemed to me that I could wrap it up as a thriller." (Alan Ayckbourn, Artscene, July 2002)
A Doll’s House

For the society’s fourth production our Director Tony Pritchitt has chosen Henrik Ibsen’s classic ground-breaking play “A Doll’s House”. We are using a new snappy modern translation by Samuel Adamson, one of the country’s leading exponents in this field. Our cast includes four existing members, Harriet Pitman, Neil Everest, Gwen Pritchitt and Rod Morgan, and two exciting newcomers to our stage Kat Joseph and Tui Dunleavy.
Two
Thursday 7 to Saturday 9 August 2008
The Parish Halls, De La Warr Road, East Grinstead
A character study by Jim Cartwright
A sharp and touching slice of English life set in a Northern Pub owned by a savagely bickering husband and wife. Two is a series of short vignettes that skilfully combines pathos and humour. During the course of the evening assorted customers pass through including a little boy left behind by his father - an event which triggers a movement towards a fragile reconciliation between the pub couple, as their own dark tragedy is revealed.

“A sharp, salty quick fire evocation of the surface gaiety and underlying melancholia of English pub life.” The Guardian
“Jim Cartwright is one of the mavericks of British theatre.” Daily Telegraph
“Brilliantly, surrealistically and comically poetic.” Sunday Times
“Broad humour, dry wit and often shudderingly moving poetry.” Time Out
The Gingerbread Lady

A comedy by Neil Simon
Neil Simon has the ability to take a rehabilitated drunk and draw the emotions and love between a mother and daughter into a play that exhibits both a serious message and humorous dialogue.

A farce by John Dighton
Thanks to a slip-up at the Ministry of Education, the girls of St. Swithin's School are billeted with the boys of Nutbourne College, and their warring head teachers have to join forces to conceal this from parents.
